A soldier who died in a fire in Ba two weeks ago, was yesterday given a full military burial in Rakiraki.

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto led personnel from the defence forces to the funeral of Lance Corporal Sanaila Radevo  at Rakiraki Village.

The church service was earlier held at the Methodist Church in Rakiraki and his casket was carried in a hearse which followed the RFMF jazz band and a slow march through Rakiraki Town.

Lance Corporal Radevo, his brother Ropate, both 53, their cousin Amele Nacula, 53 and her daughter Alka Artika Dutt, 23, all died in a house fire at Valele in Ba on August 20.

Lance Corporal Radevo’s daughter, Aliti Radevo wept quietly as the last post was played by the RFMF  bugler.

He was awarded a 21-gun salute before being buried.

The four were inside the house when the fire broke out in the early hours of the morning, trapping them inside the house.

Upen Datt, 23, Ms Nacula’s son managed to escape the fire which gutted the home.

Investigations are still ongoing.

The other three victims were buried last week.
