The Technical College of Fiji (TCF) Macuata-I-Cake Campus at Wainikoro, Macuata Province, was renamed by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

The campus is now called Ratu Ilisanita Malodali named after the Tui Nadogo.

This was announced by the masters of ceremony during the closing of the programme where Mr Bainimarama was the chief guest.

Ratu Ilisanita who was present at the opening told, Fiji Sun that he was surprised but happy.

“It is a great honour and privilege to have a prestigious institution named after me,” Ratu Ilisanita said.

“I didnt know a campus would be named after me, until the masters of ceremony announced it. I am really thankful to Mr Bainimarama and his Government.

“We have witnessed how TCF has been like a lighthouse for our people.

“When children dropout out from secondary education system, they can resort to TCF and have a bright future. Especially those who would like to purse trade certificate.

“I would like to thank the Government and Ministry of Education for opening a door of education for our young generation in Nadogo District,” Ratu Ilisanita said.

“I have been Tui Nadogo for nine years and I have seen parents struggling to send their children either to Labasa or Viti Levu to purse tertiary education,” the 55-year-old father said.

“With the opening of TCF parents will now be able to save a lot of money.

They do not need to worry about accommodation or travelling expenses as their children will daily come from home.

“I feel joyful that now Nadogo is not left behind,” Ratu Ilisanita said.

The campus had student roll of 89 and offers two national certificate programmes.
