Nurse Ranjila Devi says when she gets a platform to voice her opinion, she would choose to do so against non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The 23-year-old from Ba, currently vying for Miss Vodafone Ba Riverside Carnival crown, says the country is experiencing a rise in NCDs and this is a challenge for the health sector especially in rural areas.

“As a nurse I look at every opportunity to raise awareness on NCDs as I daily see patients who are not only suffering from NCDs, health wise, but it is affecting their social, work and personal life as well, ” Ms Devi said.

As Miss Civil Servants, Ms Devi is passionate about her work and is focused on saving lives.

“My job is my hobby and I love to meet people every day,” Ms Devi said

“We at the hospitals meet a lot of people daily and as a nurse I know I am always nice with everyone.

“A smile is the key to making others happy and I assure you it won’t be a fake me on stage but the real me.”

At the moment, Ms Devi’s real challenge doing shift work at the Ba Mission Hospital and trying to get to rehearsals on time. However, she says she can manage them, with all the excitement.

She also has to arrange her shift at the Ba Mission Hospital to be able to participate in the carnival programmes.

The crowing of the Ms Vodafone Ba Riverside Carnival will be conducted tonight.
