About 21 students from Gospel High School were part of the World First Aid Day build up on Friday in Suva.

Gospel High School students, Red Cross First Aid club held their session on various methods of life saving technique such as safety, natural disasters, and learning the emergency contact numbers amongst others.

Gospel High School teacher, Varsha Prasad says that students are very interested in the programme that is held every Friday afternoon, and in certain cases when a student gets sick during class, the Red Cross club members are the first to respond to the situation.

“The main aim of the Red Cross first aid clubs in schools is to allow students to better respond in times of emergency and be prepared to save someone’s life,” Fiji Red Cross safety instructor, Salote Maramaciriciri said.

World First Aid Day which will be celebrated on September 10.

This year’s theme is: ‘First Aid for and by children’.
