Farmer In Custody For Allegedly Farming, Selling Illicit Drugs

 

A farmer of Wailevu, Tunuloa, in the province of Cakaudrove is in Police custody for allegedly farming and selling dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that on August 30 the farmer was arrested.

“The suspect was arrested at Labasa market taxi stand where 28 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana were found in his possession,” Ms Naisoro said.

“On the same day another search was conducted at an apartment where the suspect was staying and more sachets with dried leaves believed to be marijuana were found.

“The next day a combined operation team raided a farm belonging to the suspect where more than 1100 plants ranging from 30cm to 120cm believed to be marijuana.

“The suspect is in Police custody as the plants await analysis,” she said
