Ratu Joni Waits For Naming Of Vunivalu

The Turaga Na Roko Tui Bau, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi told the Fiji Sun at Bau Island yesterday that he was still waiting for the name of the one to be installed as the Vunivalu of Bau.
“I’m still waiting for the name,” he said.
The two entitled for the highest ranking position and head of the Kubuna confederacy are Ratu George Kadavulevu Cakobau (Junior) and Ratu Epenisa Cakobau.
The late Vunivalu Ratu Sir George was installed as Vunivalu in 1959. He died in 1989. Since then the title has been vacant.
Ratu Sir George was first married to Adi Veniana Gavoka, daughter of the late Ratu Inoke Mara, Roko Tui Namata.
From his first marriage, he had three children; Adi Samanunu Cakobau-Talakuli, Adi Litia Cakobau and Ratu George Kadavulevu Cakobau (Junior).
From Ratu Sir George’s second marriage to Lady Adi Lelea Seruwaia Balekiwai, he had four children; Adi Salote Kaunilotuma Cakobau, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, Ratu Josefa Celua Cakobau and Ratu Tanoa Visawaqa Cakobau.
The Vunivalu clan would decide on the name and the installation would be carried out by the Roko Tui Bau.
Once installed he would also be the Vunivalu of Bau which is the head of the chiefly island of Bau which also bears the rule of the province of Tailevu and the head of the Kubuna confederacy.
