Rugby 7s Plan For Kauvesi

Fiji Rugby Union has a different plan for the 7s rugby manager’s position.
FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor yesterday confirmed 7s manager Ropate Kauvesi’s contract expired on August 31.
When asked if FRU would advertise the post O’Connor said they have a different plan.
“We have a plan but we will need to discuss with Kauvesi first,” O’Connor said.
Kauvesi said he was grateful with his achievement with the national sevens team winning the World Sevens Series twice and the historic win at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
He was also awarded the Officer of the Order of Fiji by President Major –General (ret’d ) Jioji Konousi Konrote last month in recognition of their achievement in Rio.
“It’s an emotional feeling to be recognised by your own government for the work you have done,” Kauvesi said.
“Getting the best results, basically make your country happy, I’m overwhelmed, it was an emotional feeling for us.”
There were challenges along the way for Kauvesi but he treated it as a learning experience.
“I want to dedicate my achievement to my Mum Litia Kauvesi who has been the cornerstone of my life and also my family and for their support.”
