Miss Patel Dhaba, Arishma Sheshlin Prasad, is aiming to reduce suicide cases in Fiji during her Vodafone Tebara Carnival 2016 campaign at Syria Park in Nausori.

The 22-year-old believes most people, especially the youths, who consider suicide, do not really want to die, however these youths just do not know how to cope with or eliminate the pain they are going through.

“My advocacy message for this year’s Vodafone Tebara Carnival 2016 is based on suicide cases, and how I can help youths to understand the importance of not giving up hope when facing difficulties in life.”

She said she wants youths to understand how precious and beautiful life is. Many get depressed at a point or another throughout life.

“It takes time to appreciate this life, appreciate the beautiful environment that we live in.

“So a bit of knowledge and understanding will help them reduce suicide cases in Fiji,” Ms Prasad said.

The Fiji National University final year customs student, who loves swimming and tutoring yoga to her cousins, refers mother Ranjila Wati as her inspiration.

“The only person who inspires me the most is none other than my mother. I believe that she knows me well, she knows me more than anyone in my family.  She’s my life’s biggest strength, my encouragement and everything.

“My mum is my role model because she has all the qualities that I want to have when I grow to her age. Just how she looks after me, I want to look after my children.

“She’s just an amazing, a truly honest person in my life.”

Ms Prasad is vying for the Miss Vodafone Tebara crown during the week long carnival which ends on Saturday
