The Vodafone Fiji Under20 side drew its second match in the 2016 OFC U20 Championship 1-1 against New Caledonia on Tuesday.

It remains in contention for a semifinal spot from Group A.

After a 1-0 defeat to Vanuatu on Saturday, the Yogendra Dutt coached side displayed a much better performance.

Despite dominating the first half, the Fijians only managed to score their lone goal in the 25th through Australian based Leeroy Jennings.

New Caledonia leveled scores in the 68th minute through Thomas Gope-Fenepe as Fiji’s defence failed to clear a corner-kick.

Fijian Captain MataiasiToma received his second booking of the tournament and will have to miss the side’s all important clash against Papua New Guinea.

New Caledonia earlier thumped PNG 4-1 and sits on four points while host Vanuatu is on top with 6 points after they beat Papua New Guinea 3-1 and Fiji 1-0. Fiji is third with a point and PNG currently sits at the bottom with no points.

The Yogendra Dutt coached side will play Papua New Guinea this Saturday at 1pm.
