39-Year-Old Woman Probed For Buried Baby
A 39-year-old woman has been questioned and released regarding the body of a baby found buried in Nasinu.
Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the file for the case was now with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
No comments will be further made till a decision is made whether to charge the mother or not.
Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator Shamima Ali made a call yesterday for communities to reach out and help mothers who became pregnant.
“The society and men need to change their attitude towards these women,” Ms Ali said.
“When women get pregnant we need to support them financially and emotionally as they aren’t able to support themselves and their child.
“Particularly women who get pregnant and the men run away from their responsibilities.”
