Archbishop Peter Loy Chong, applauded the courageous women who have become leaders in their own right.

Archibishop Chong, while presiding over the thanksgiving mass at Saint Joseph’s Secondary School’s 60 years diamond jubilee celebration in Suva yesterday, said: “We should not only look back at the past, but look forward to the future.”

Provincial Leader of the Saint Joseph of Cluny religious orderSister Allison Macalister said the sisters had managed to establish a school of excellence.

Sister Macalister, who is also a former pupil of the school, said the dream has been kept alive all these years, and thanked the alumni groups from all over the world who came from as far as  America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand to be part of the weeklong celebration.

President of St Joseph’s Alumnae Pule Sukainaivalu said: “2016 has been a very promising year as we mark the diamond anniversary of the school as a quality and holistic education for many young women.”

The oldest serving sister of SJSS, 99-year-old Angela Cavey was given the honour of cutting the jubilee cake.
