Former Student Relives Secondary School Days

Feels deep connection when in Fiji
Saint Joseph’s Secondary school alumni member, Pam Grabbee Devlin, says there’s always a deep connection when coming back to Fiji.
“It’s important to come back for the 60 years diamond jubilee celebration to reconnect with the former and current girls,” said Ms Devlin.
The 70-year-old who was a student in the 1960’s remembers the years she spent in Fiji as a form three (Year 9) student before leaving for Australia.
According to Ms Devlin, the Sydney based alumni raises funds and donated to several schools in Natovi, Tailevu and Vanuakula in Ra.
“I was born in Suva where we had our family home and my great-great-grandmother was an i-Taukei from my maternal side”
She was excited to be part of the celebration and also applauded the launch of the E Diamond learning Project yesterday, saying that it would improve the skills of the girls and give them an opportunity to compete at this level.
“Fiji is just different, I just love this place just to see the smiles on people’s faces and trying to learn all the Fijian words,” said a jovial Ms Devlin.
The 60 years Diamond Jubilee celebration has programmes set for weeklong event that will end this Sunday.
