Police Urge Parents, Be Attentive To Needs Of Children After 11 year old Allegedly Commits Suicide

The Fiji Police Force is deeply concerned with a case involving an 11 year old student who allegedly is a victim of suicide.
The victim allegedly took his own life yesterday at their home on the island of Kadavu after initial reports received that he was disallowed from accompanying his parents to Vunisea.
While we are not here to judge or criticize the involvement of any parties concerned, we are requesting parents and guardians to have an open mind regarding the concerns of our children.
We are also very concerned that in this particular case, a child is bold enough to commit such an act and for children to have suicidal thoughts is an issue everyone should take note of.
Again the Fiji Police does not want to point fingers at anyone in such situations however this renews our call for us as adults to be vigilant and alert to any changes in the behavior of our children and be more attentive to their needs.
This is because something that we as adults may find insignificant could mean a lot to them and we believe that by committing more time to our children, will we have a better understanding of their needs especially in today’s rapidly changing environment.
