Saheel Shops Alone

Most youths nowadays have to live away from family to complete their studies and 20-year-old Saheel Buksh is one of them.
This also means that he has to do his own grocery shopping as well.
The 20-year-old originally from Raiwaqa in Suva has to rent in Nadi for weeks to attend his classes.
When away from home, he does not really have a specific store to shop from. He prefers buying in bulk so that he does not need to run to supermarkets every now but to focus on his studies.
“I come down to Nadi for sometimes a month or two weeks depending on my classes. Accordingly I buy groceries and stock them for my own convenience, especially when I’m away from my mother. I have to organise it all by myself,” he said.
“I have to make sure what I buy saves me time but keeps me healthy. So Weet-Bix is a must for me.”
Saheel says shopping alone is a contributing factor to making right choices, being an independent person and not being impulsive.
“Shopping also makes me happy and is sort of a social and leisure time for me.”
Saheel is a second year aircraft engineering student at Fiji National University.
He shops at Shop N Save in Nadi.
