Naqarani, Noco, Rewa native Luisa Tisolo is optimistic this will open doors to other women in Fiji to play abroad.

“I was scouted after the Rio Olympic Games,” she said.

“I’m very happy and excited with this new journey, it will be a good experience for me and this will also open doors for women in Fiji and not only men.

“I was struggling for this since I started playing rugby.

Tisolo told SUNsports that before she left for Rio she had faith in herself that she will secure an overseas contract.

“Before I left home I told my family that I was determined that I will get an overseas contract, I believed in myself and I want to thank the Lord Almighty and my family for their support.”

Tisolo started her rugby career in 2010 with the Striders club and played her first competition the same year in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s. She made her debut for the Fijiana side in 2012 in the Women’s 7s World Cup qualifiers in Pune, India.

“My aim is to go to France and work hard so that my contract can be extended.”
