Bua Crowned North Champs

The Bua football team have created history by winning the Vodafone Senior League in the Northern Division for the first time.
This was after they drew with Savusavu 1-1 at Subrail Park, Labasa yesterday. Bua coach Suresh Sharma said they are now leading the points table with 14 points.
“Bua has been participating in this league for 15 years and this is the first time we have won it,” he said.
“We have one game remaining and that is against Seaqaqa tomorrow. We will play them for official reasons and we are definite that we will get more points.
“Whether we get more points or not we will still be the champion since other districts are not even closer to us on the points table.”
Bua scored the first goal in the 15th minute through Aisake Kedrayaki. Then Irshaad Khan equalised for Savusavu in the 38th minute.
Savusavu coach/ player Salesh Chand said it was unfortunate that they could not win the league.
“The fitness level of the players was good. The challenging factor that held us back in this match was the condition of the ground.
“We are used to playing in a standard ground. The second ground at Subrail Park is not wide enough.
“Even though we will be playing Taveuni tomorrow we are still not able to win the league.”
