Australian Professor Takes Up PS Health Post

The Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Mr. Vishnu Mohan, has announced the appointment of Mr. Philip Davies as the new Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services following a rigorous recruitment and selection process. His appointment is effective immediately.
Mr. Davies will bring over 35 years of health sector experience to the Ministry. He previously served as the Deputy Director-General at the Queensland Government Department of Health, Professor of Health Systems & Policy at the University Of Queensland School Of Population Health and Deputy Director-General for the New Zealand Ministry of Health.
Mr. Mohan said that he is confident that Mr. Davies’ impressive record of leadership and achievement in the health sector makes him well-suited to serve as the new Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services.
The appointment was made by the Public Service Commission under section 126 (1) (a) of the Constitution, with the agreement of the Prime Minister.
