Dancing Girl Scoops Main Race

Nadi based- Dancing Girl pulled one of the major upsets during the Riverside Championship Trophy at the Namosau Race Course in Ba yesterday.
Dancing Girl ran a perfect race to edge out Dynakil of Vunisamaloa, in the main event of the mile and quarter.
In the other top race Kolino of Moto, Ba overcame Babasiga Lions from Sigatoka.
Event organiser Sunil Sharma was impressed with the competition with a total of 77 horses taking part in the one-day event.
“There were a total of 22 races and it was interesting because horses from other districts like Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, and Tavua took part and they began to challenge each other,” he said.
He said a crowd of 2000 people came to witness the event.
Sharma said they are grateful to sponsors like Goundar’s Hardware, Rentals, Earthmovers from Tavua along with co-sponsors Ba Motor Parts Limited.
“On behalf of the committee I would like to thank both sponsors for their support in making things happen.”
Sharma added the next race is the Diwali Cup Championship which falls on the last week of October.
He said they have secured some good sponsors as they strive to make the event be one of the best in the country.
