Suva football star striker Samuela Drudru scored twice as they beat Nadroga 2-1 in the Vodafone Premier League clash at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

The win sees the Gurjit Singh-coached side remain unbeaten and move closer to the top two spots of the points table in their mission to qualify for the Champions League.

What happened:  Suva continued with their winning form which was obvious as they played attacking football. Drudru struck in the 4th minute as they enjoyed an early 1-0 lead. The Stallions tried hard to hit back but the Suva defence stood tall.

In the 32nd minute Drudru increased their lead with a well taken shot that beat Nadroga goalie Sakeo Taganeca.

Half Time: Suva 2-0 Nadroga

Nadroga refused to give up as they dominated the second spell and in the 51st minute Krishneel Dutt scored their lone goal.

Comments: Suva coach Gurjit Singh said “Getting the three points was important for us and also a wonderful performance from the players. Now we will be having some tough games we will really be working hard, but we have already started working hard from last week and I think that helped us today.”

Nadroga coach Waisea Tale said, “They are just young boys and they are also new to the super premier. They are working very hard but some players tend to come in some days and miss the other days of training so we can’t do much. The finishing was not there, but overall good work from the boys.”
