Fijian Football Academy Under-17 team will play an international friendly against an Australian team on September 25 in Suva.  The team have been playing in the Vodafone Youth League as they camp at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa.

Coach Shalen Lal said yesterday that the boys are now improving.

“I guess this is the first time the boys have been in a group for the whole year,” he said.

“Still this is not the national under-17 team but they will be out to make the national under-17 in December.”

Lal said, there are 22 players in camp who are vying for a spot in the final 18 squad to Tahiti.

They have remained unbeaten after eight matches in the youth league.

“I would say it is good that we’ve played a lot of matches as we are able to see what our weaknesses are and we are working on that.

“The boys are able to know each other very well and understand their combination.”

Yesterday, they showed just that when they trounced Northland Tailevu 3-0 at the Fiji FA Academy ground.
