Telecom Fiji’s Expertise Used For ICT Solution At Double Tree Resort

Plans to deploy undersea optic fiber cables connecting the resort to mainland for all the hotel
Vision Group has used Telecom Fiji Limited’s experience and expertise to introduce one of the best ICT solutions for guests at its Double Tree By Hilton Resort on Sonaisali Island.
The project has been described as a landmark ICT one for Fiji and certainly was one of the single largest enterprise projects ever undertaken by Telecom Fiji.
Telecom Fiji is currently planning to deploy undersea optic fiber cables connecting the resort to mainland for all the hotel as well as retail and banking services required on the island.
Vision Group chief executive, PL Munasinghe, said Telecom Fiji’s design and solution was very compelling.
He said it was based on a single platform supporting all the resorts administrative and guest services and functions.
“Given the nature of our target clientele, we wanted to offer un-paralleled levels of service that the guests would remember for years to come,” he said.

The works done
Telecom Fiji is a leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions provider locally.
It designed and implemented a full turn-key end-to-end network infrastructure for the newly renovated Double Tree by HILTON resort.
Included in the project was high speed internet access, structured cabling, fiber optic for backbone connectivity to the rooms and in-room real time access to flight information.
The network infrastructure also caters for other services such as CCTV surveillance and fire alarm management system.
Telecom Fiji chief executive, Mothilal De Silva, said: “We thank Vision Group for having faith and confidence in choosing Telecom Fiji as their technology partner to design and implement this world-class solution for their property.
“It required very close collaboration and coordination with our various internal technical teams, suppliers, partners, third party systems integrators, and the Double Tree and Hilton technical teams.”
Mr De Silva said their technical team went through a detailed design process with the involvement of Hilton teams, to ensure the solution was fully compliant with Hilton global standards.
“The communications network solution had to accommodate a wide variety of activities and distributed structures,” he said.
“This included office and administration buildings, boardroom and conference centre, children’s corner, bures, retail shops, spas, bars, outdoor activity centres, TV signal reception centre, mainland office and staff quarters.”
