CARGO VESSEL BRINGS IN CEMENT CLINKER

Cargo vessel Maritime Coaction is now at the Kings Wharf bringing in cement clinker from People’s Republic of China (PRC) for Tengy Cement (Fiji) Company Limited (TCFL).

According to Vafo’ou Villiame of Carpenters Shipping the vessel will be in the country for 7 to 8 days.

“The vessel will be unloading cement clinker for the new cement factory,” he said.

When asked if the vessel had visited another Pacific country he said “no”.

According to Mr Vavou the Maritime Coaction will go directly to Chine after unloading in Fiji.

TCFL Cement Company Limited, a Chinese investment company had acquired the operating license to operate a cement factory in the country in 2012, two years later and after investing over $50 million the TCFL Cement Factory was officially opened at 20th August 2014 by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

The TCFL Cement Factory is situated at Veisari on the outskirts of the Lami vicinity, with a 99 year industrial lease TCFL has become a regular contributor to Fiji’s economy.
