The Fiji Football Association (FFA) aims to build a academy at Naqai in Labasa.

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Bob Kumar said the project has nothing to do with the planned relocation of Subrail Park.

“We will build an academy with hostel, kitchen, office, playing fields, futsal quarters and many more for football development,” Kumar said.

“Currently, there is no football academy in the North.

“FFA is not involved with the relocation of Subrail Park in Labasa,” Kumar said.

“It is a matter between Labasa Town Council (LTC) and the Ministry of Local Government.

“However, once the final decision is made to relocate, we expect LTC to consult us on our requirements.

“The relocation of Subrail Park is a good idea.

“The current park needs to be expanded with additional playing fields apart from the main pitch.

The current park does not have space for expansion.

“I believe the relocation would allow for a new grandstand with all the facilities like the VIP rooms, proper commentary booths, facilities, increased seating capacity, proper change rooms, and good toilet facilities,” he said.
