With only two days away from the 33rd Musket Cove Sailing Regatta, 10 more extra yachts have been registered bringing the total number of yachts to 70.

Defending champions Falshator and Minnie Mouse are again top favourites to claim their titles in the mono-hull and multi-hull categories respectively.

“So far we have 70 yachts registered and we expect to have 80 yachts,” said Musket Cove sales and marketing manager Alex Raicebe.

The event hosted by the Musket Cove Yacht Club dubbed as the South Pacific’s biggest Blue Water Yacht Club and home to the famous Fijian regatta week.

“Falshator is from New Zealand and owned by John Colebourne while Minnie Mouse of Fiji is owned Andrew Rhodes.”

Raicebe said the event is boiling up as it regularly attracts cruising, racing yachtsmen and women from all over the world.

“The sailing is superb almost always enhanced by a balmy tropical trade wind while back at the island.

“We offer docking facilities at our marina, or deep-water moorings in a well sheltered bay,” he said.

The Musket Cove Fiji Regatta will be held over six days with a simple programme, sail by day and party by night, the latter usually happening around the beachfront barbecue area at the yacht club.

The welcoming cocktail party is tomorrow and is sponsored by Pacific Beverages.
