Senior Golfer Nair Ends 10-year Drought

Bhaskaran Nair finally ended his 10-year drought after winning the Telecom Fiji Senior Golf Open Championship at the Fiji Golf Club in Nabua, Suva yesterday.
Nair finished in first place with 240 gross, Mohammed Rafik came in second with 246 gross while Ram Narayan Goundar settled for third spot with 247 gross.
Tiphait Hussein was the overall net winner with 215 and was also the best nett for the over 70.
Nair, 66, who joined the Fiji Senior Golfers Association at the age 55 was on cloud nine after the win.
“It’s been 10 years I have been trying for this since the age of 55 and I have been playing in all tournaments every year and I have finally won at the age of 66.
“It’s all about patience, no rush and applying your skills,” he said.
Nair started playing golf at the age of 40 and usually do a daily nine- hole practice if weather permits and finally got this result in the end.
“I want to dedicate this win to my elder brother Shree Nair who introduced me to the association.”
Meanwhile, in the Ladies division Susie Yee won with a total of 292 gross and Mua Rawlinson finished in second place with 302 gross.
