90 Yachts Set To Go

Ninety (90) yachts have been confirmed for the 33rd Annual Fiji Regatta Week at the Musket Cove Island Resort and Marina.
Resort sales and marketing manager Alex Raicebe said yesterday they were overwhelmed with the response for the signature event, which is unbroken since 1984.
“We can confirm by 6pm today a total of 90 yachts have registered for the week-long event, he said.
“When you we consider these 90 yachts which have crews of two or four or even six, which is a pleasant surprise.”
Gulf Harbour Marina Namotu Island to Musket Cove SUP
Musket Cove Yacht Club supervisor Patrick Tuiqereqere said that 18 yachts have confirmed for today’s Musket Cove Island Resort to Beachcomber event.
“This is another important event in the week where the participants are hosted at the Beachcomber Island Resort where it is known as the Pirates Day,” he said.
The event starts at 10am and is sponsored by Gulf Harbour Marina of New Zealand.
The Corona Fiji SUP Challenge
Tuiqereqere said over 30 paddlers are expected to compete in the Fiji SUP Challenge 2016.
Today’s Stand Up Paddle Challenge is open to all which involves paddle from Namuto Island Resort to Musket Cove Island Resort and Marina.
“So far we have 17 yachts confirmed for the event and not taking into account the super yachts berthed at the Port Denarau Marina, the locals and the house guests on Namotu Island Resort,” he said.
“The event is very popular as we had the world champion from Hawaii who won the event last year.
“Over the years the sport has gained popularity.”
The event starts at 2pm and is sponsored by Corona Extra Beer.
