Two men charged with abuse of office and general dishonesty, and obtaining financial advantage were granted bail and imposed strict conditions by the Suva Magistrates Court.

Appearing before Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage, Josaia Dinono, a clerical officer for the Ministry of Education, and Venktesh Naidu, the Director of Dynamic Solutions were granted bail in the sum of $2000. The two are being charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

Dinono is charged with a count each of abuse of office and general dishonesty causing a loss while being employed at the Ministry of Education.

Naidu is charged with one count of obtaining financial advantage.

Their bail conditions requires them to surrender their passports, report to FICAC twice a month and a stop departure order issued against them.

The alleged incident occurred sometime in 2012.

The two accused were told to present two sureties who are to pay $2000 each as a surety bond.

FICAC council Francis Puleiwai served first phase disclosures.

The case has been adjourned to October 6.
