Ministry Farewells Emotional Rosy Akbar

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation bid farewell to the outgoing Minister Rosy Akbar yesterday.
An emotional Ms Akbar acknowledged the Ministry staff for their support during her term with them.
She also welcomed her replacement, outgoing Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Mereseini Vuniwaqa.
Ms Akbar is now the Minister for Health and Medical Services.
“I am really delighted to be here today to remember what we achieved together and most importantly, I really want to thank you all sincerely for standing by me and my Ministry for the past two years.
“Without you all, the journey would have been a difficult and winding one,” Ms Akbar told her former colleagues.
“It is through the support of the various stakeholders, that I had the honour to lead some of the outstanding achievements and visions of the Fijian Government to ensure that in the new Fiji that we are creating, everyone are given opportunities to progress,” she said.
Ms Akbar said she was happy to join the Ministry of Health and Medical Services where her area of priority was to work on improving health services to the people.
“I bid farewell to my Ministry and I wish the new team the very best to set a platform for greater opportunities created for the empowerment of women and children and our service to this nation,” she said.
Ms Akbar also pleaded with their stakeholders to continue to support and assist Mrs Vuniwaqa, the new Minister for Women, Children & Poverty Alleviation.
