SPSE Forum To Explain Why And How To List Companies On Stock Market

Local and regional business community will get the opportunity next week to learn more about the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ of listing on the South Pacific Stock Exchange.

A Listing Forum has been organised next Thursday at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

SPSE chief executive, Latileta Qoro, said this is an annual awareness initiative designed and offered free of charge for company Directors, founding shareholders and executives as well as their corporate advisors.

Ms Qoro said: “In Fiji, when businesses require capital for long-term expansion or wish to enhance their corporate visibility, listing on the SPSE is rarely the first option that comes to mind.

“However, there are many benefits that can accrue to a company that lists on the SPSE.

“In the absence of readily available information, exploring this option and making the decision to list a company can be a daunting experience.

“It is one that raises numerous questions for which finding responses can be time-consuming, cumbersome and unfortunately for some, a costly exercise.

“How will my company benefit from listing? How can it enhance the value of my company? Is it a complicated exercise? What are the requirements? Who can help me in this process?

“How long does the listing process take? How much will it cost my company? These are some valid commonly asked questions that potential listed companies face.”

To assist in bridging the information gap and answering these frequently asked questions, the SPSE has extended an invitation to all corporate entities to attend the Forum.

However, special invitations have also been issued to selected companies. Forum Registration closes on Monday September 19.

The Forum, which is designed to be interactive, will feature Executives of Vision Investments and Fijian Holdings Limited which are SPSE listed companies.

There will also be representatives from the International Finance Corporation (Cornerstone Investor for VIL), BDO Corporate Finance Ltd, Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority and Reserve Bank of Fiji.
