Two People In Custody For Illicit Drugs

The Fiji Police’s focus on drugs continues around the divisions as stated by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, all efforts will be put in to try and eliminate the illegal trade that has lasting negative effects on everyone it comes into contact with.

A team from the Southern Division has been zeroing in on such activities with two people currently in custody after they were found with substances believed to be drugs.

The first raid conducted at Votua Road, Samabula yesterday morning discovered substances, dried leaves and other items from the home of a man who is alleged to be involved in the manufacture of illicit substances.

The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.

In the second raid conducted by the Southern Division team a 27 year old woman is in custody after seeds and a sack of dried leaves believed to be marijuana was found in her Wailea home. The raid was conducted yesterday and she remains in custody as investigations continue.

The work of the Southern Division team as well as other teams in other divisions continues in the Force’s efforts to curb the illicit drug trade. While a handful continue to benefit from this illegal trade, so many others are suffering from its impacts and that is the reason as to why we continue to focus on drugs.

We are looking at the future generation so they are not caught in this vicious cycle and anyone that knows of this illegal trade occurring in their neighbourhood is requested to call their nearest police station.
