Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports and gold medallist at the London 2012 Paralympic Games,  Iliesa Delana, joined Fiji Paralympic high jumper, Epeli Baleibau, at training on Wednesday and helped him through his preparations.

Delana visited the Fiji Paralympic team at the Games Village to wish them well and accompanied the Fijian Paralympic high jumper to a training session at a Brazil Airforce base in Rio de Janeiro.

Delana joined his former coach, Freddy Fatiaki, who is now the president of the Fiji Paralympic Association, during a session to support Baleibau and coach Ben Qumi’s charge in the men’s high jump T47 class (below elbow amputation).

Delana said that it has been four years since he leapt for gold in London and only jumped to help in Baleibau’s preparations. He also met Oceania Paralympic president, Paul Bird, at the Games Village to discuss Paralympic sport assistance to the region.
