A 39-year-old man that Police have been after for 16 months has been arrested and is in custody.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said Police had been after Mukesh Raj Naidu for over one year and a bench warrant was issued for a pending court case in his alleged involvement in the illegal sales of lots in Sakoca, Tacirua, outside Suva.

“We have three files that we’re dealing with currently involving $28,000 from three different people,” Ms Naisoro said.

In a Wanted List published every Wednesday in the Fiji Sun, Naidu is wanted for several alleged cases of obtaining financial advantage by deception amounting to more than $3 million.

According to the Wanted List details Naidu is alleged to have “promised to provide them (members of the public) with land lots but failed to do so”.

Ms Naisoro said the three files Police currently dealing with at this stage dealt with three members of the public but Police had a big list pending with files which had not been opened for investigations.

Naidu was arrested by a team of officers in Nadi on Friday morning and was brought to Suva.

There he was questioned and had been charged with one count of disobedience of lawful order and three counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception.

For the three counts, he is alleged to have obtained more than $28,000 from three different people for land lots sold illegally.

He is expected to be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court tomorrow.
