Passengers of a Pacific Transport Limited bus were safely transferred from one bus to another after smoke was spotted by passengers allegedly linked to an electrical fault.

This was confirmed by the Pacific Transport parts procurement officer and duty supervisor Izyan Shah yesterday.

He said the incident took place in Sigatoka while the bus was on its way from Suva to Lautoka between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Friday.

“The bus was full but the immediate response came from the Sigatoka branch to help the passengers,” Mr Shah said.

“The incident took place due to an electrical fault near the bus tyre, but it was controlled by the fire extinguisher.”

He said smoke was spotted on the driver’s side by passengers.

“All the passengers were safely transferred to another bus from Sigatoka to go to Lautoka,” Mr Shah said.

The bus is currently under repairs at the Pacific Transport depot in Sigatoka.

Police spokesperson said Ana Naisoro said she had not received a report regarding the incident.
