She was named best performer

It was the best moment for Harsha Harsmeetal when she received her birthday gift in advance last Saturday.

She was named the best performer at the second elimination of the Sur Sangharsh (Hunt for the Singing Sensation) held at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.

Miss Harsmeetal will turn 23 tomorrow. She and other eight contestants battled on stage.

“This is the best birthday gift for me.

“I did not expect to be announced as the best performer but, I am so happy,” Miss Harsmeetal said.

She was thankful to her parents and friends for their support.

“I will now focus and work really hard to win the final battle. I will choose good songs for the public,” she said.

The Lautoka born lass was raised in Naroro, Sigatoka and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Management degree at the University of the South Pacific (USP).

“I gained interest in music in 2013 when I joined USP.

“I love listening to songs from Bollywood singers Arijit Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan and Lata Mangeshkar,” she said.

She was grateful the Saregama Events Group organised a platform where youth can promote their hidden musical talents.

Sur Sangharsh (Hunt for the Singing Sensation) is a platform organised for youths to showcase their singing talents. It was organised in 2014 by the Saregama Events Group in Fiji.

Three contestants were eliminated on Saturday night.

The final six contestants will battle in the grand finale on November 12 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

The winner of the overall competition will get $1000, most popular artist; $750, 1st Runner-up; $500, 2nd-Runner-up: $350.
