Andra Whiteside won three trophies during the BSP National Badminton Championship which ended at the Yat Sen Hall in Suva yesterday.

Whiteside won the women singles final after defeating Shannon Quai Hoi 2-0.

She also won the women’s double where she paired with her sister Karen to beat Chloe Kumar and Shannon Quai Hoi 2-0.

She also won the Mixed Doubles A grade with Jason Low to defeat Martin Feussner and Sina Quai Hoi 2-0.

Andra was impressed with the turnout during the two-day competition.

“I’ve been playing the sport for a long time and winning these three trophies is a bonus,”she said.

“I like to compete, it’s been good and it’s good to see the young girls taking part.

“We talk a lot about development and it’s good to see young players coming in and compete.

“It’s been a good turnout in the four different grades.

We need more players, the more the better then it will improve the standard of play.”

“We hope to participate in one international tournament next year.”
