Finance Pacific Corporation Limited (FPCL) stepped in yesterday to sponsor the Suva Football team for the Courts Inter-District Championship (IDC).

The sponsorship is worth $7500 in which $5000 will be given in cash while $2, 500 will be in kind.

Suva Football Association president, Mahendra Prasad said the return of FPCL brings good luck to their campaign.

“This is not the first time they have come on board, they sponsored us in 2012 and that was the year we won the IDC after a lapse of 20 years,” Prasad said.

“I thank them for this IDC sponsorship because as you know, sponsors are a major part of any team. I think Finance Pacific has come at the  right time to finance Suva football and it is good to see that we will be known as Finance Pacific Suva. It is not an easy thing to get sponsors and we are lucky to have their support.”

Company director Siddharth Nandan said they are fulfilling their corporate responsibility and hope that Suva bring the title back.

“We have done this in the past so we have some history with Suva soccer, FPCL does majority of its business out of here so we feel that it is part of our corporate responsibility to give back to the community,” Nandan said.

“Sponsoring a sports team is a small part of what we do in terms of giving back and we hope to continue the relationship we have with Suva Football in the future as well. We hope just like in 2012 we can be a lucky charm for the Suva team and may they bring the trophy back.” The IDC will be held at the ANZ Stadium, Suva from October 5-10.
