A man who allegedly posed as a Police officer appeared yesterday in the Suva Magistrates Court.

Binesh Pillay is charged with one count of obtaining a financial advantage by deception by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. It is alleged that in 2015, Pillay pretended to be a Police officer and obtained a financial advantage of $300.

Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne has remanded Pillay because he has other matters in court.

Pillay has chosen to be represented by a private lawyer who is required to be present on the next date.

FICAC lawyer Sanjana Datt served first phase disclosures.

The case has been adjourned to October 14 for mention.
