Fiji Sun Opens Doors Of Relationships

Joining the Fiji Sun after the political upheaval in 2000 was a decision I will never regret.
After 17 years of teaching in secondary schools around Fiji I joined the Daily Post as a sports reporter and was later promoted to Sports Editor and later the Nai Volasiga editor.
Then I had a call from the Fiji Sun asking if I was interested to join their team. I was and moved quickly.
I joined the Fiji Sun as a senior reporter and when the chief of staff resigned, I took over.
There were changes in the management and I was promoted to be the Political Editor.
I must admit that it was during this time that I came to know all the politicians and Prime Ministers at that time.
I have travelled around Fiji to report events.
The event that I would not forget was the funeral of the late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara at Tubou, Lakeba, Lau.
The press group left onboard the vessel “Sofi”with foreign dignitaries and arrived at 9am the next morning in time for the chiefly funeral at 1pm.
I joined the Publications Department just last month after spending years with the Editorial Department.
This appointment is very challenging.
It is just a small department with two layout artists – Taraivini Seru, Marika Delai and a reporter Lusiana Tuimaisala.
The department deals mainly with supplements.
For many of the supplements we do the write ups and in some the clients send us what they wanted to print.
There are always challenges and they make our work interesting especially when we have deadlines to meet.
The Publication teams will at all times uphold the company’s work ethics and at all times strive for excellence.
We wish the Fiji Sun and its management a happy 17th anniversary.
This was published as part of the Fiji Sun 17th Anniversary Lift-out.
