Fiji Sun’s accountant, Jyoti Chand was surprised to learn that her name was among nine other long-serving employees of the newspaper.

This is probably because of her passion for her job.

Mrs Chand started at the Fiji Sun in February 2005 as an accounts circulation trainee.

Her motto in life: “we have to forgo one thing to achieve another.”

“Fiji Sun is the leading media company in Fiji. Being a young media company, after only 17 years in the field, the growth wouldn’t be comparable.

“As Fiji Sun grew, I grew with the Fiji Sun.”

Over the years, Mrs Chand was promoted to payroll officer/cashier then Assistant Accountant and now Accountant.

The friendly working environment, coupled with a good bunch of colleagues makes work life pleasant.

She is also grateful for the opportunity to be assigned different roles over the years.

This reflects the trust she has earned by management.

Work and family obligations has not stopped Mrs Chand from continuing studies.

She is married with two daughters.

Mrs Chand describes herself as a “shy person, very quiet and I get emotional when I am in a sad situation.”
