Government Focused On Connecting People

The Government is focused on connecting people who are unconnected, says Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Economy, Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
While officiating as the chief guest at the Microsoft Initiative at the University of the South Pacific in Suva yesterday, he said it was important to understand the fundamental that we have as we look at most of the society.
“The power of technology is such that it breaks down all the barriers that people have,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
He stated that 95 per cent of Fiji’s population now has access to networks.
“This gives you the opportunity to think outside the box as things move very quickly.
“We want to create Fiji an ICT investment nation and hence why we have provided the start-up incentives as there is creativity in programming and networking.
“The ability to access the network in your studies is very important and with the new way of thinking and performing, there are many things we can achieve.”
He also encouraged the students of USP to contribute to developing new areas of knowledge in Fiji for the betterment of all Fijians.
