The Fiji Rugby Union has named 30 players to prepare for opening round of the 2016-17 World Sevens Series in Dubai on Decembers 2-3.

And included in the squad are six players who won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics last month. They are Osea Kolinisau, Kitione Taliga, Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Seremaia Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua and Apisai Domolailai.

Also included are 7 players who were members of the Olympic 7s squad namely Nemani Nagusa, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Alivereti Veitokani, Amenoni Nasilasila, Emosi Mulevoro, Josua Vici and Pio Tuwai.

The players will be briefed on the new season, key dates, goals and expectations.

The Eastern players need to report to the HPU Gym in Suva at 10am tomorrow for fitness and screen testing.

The Western players need to report to the HPU Gym, Sigatoka on Wednesday at 10am

The 2015/16 series champions aim to defend their Dubai title and they are in Pool A with Argentina, Canada and Wales

The island boys will enter the competition with a new head coach after Ben Ryan’s decision to bow out after Rio.

Application for the new coach closes on Friday.
