Eight Fire Fighters from Kiribati have completed their two weeks Auxiliary Fire Fighting Course with Airports Fiji Limited.

This is the second batch of fire fighters from Kiribati who have undergone fire fighting training with AFL’s Airport Rescue Fire Fighting Services.

Airports Fiji Limited General Manager Air Traffic Management and Aviation Training Isei Tudreu said the regional fire fighters underwent both theoretical and practical training including live fire drills.

“The group of fire fighters includes a female officer Loreen Corrie, who is the Fire Chief in Tarawa and six new recruits from Cassidy International Airport on Christmas Island,” Tudreu said.

He added the fire fighters would definitely help the trained individuals.

“The training will help the new recruits provide fire fighting services on the islands,” he said.

“With these trainings we are showcasing to our regional neighbours that we are equally capable just like New Zealand or Australia, of providing tailor made courses for their specific needs.

“Fiji is becoming an attractive training ground for our regional partners.”

The fire fighters graduated on Friday last week.
