Nair Wins Drag Race

Ravin Nair is the new Pacific Energy Shell Lubricant Quarter-mile Drag Race winner after clocking 10.22seconds at the Nanuku Aerodome in Pacific Harbour yesterday.
Defending champion Ravindra Nath finished second clocking 10.47s while Vicky Nath finished third place with a time of 11.47s.
Nath has been the champion for the past 15 years and faced technical problems which cost him the race.
“My engine was not okay so my mechanics have to work on it. But nevertheless holding Fiji’s record for 15 years is something and I’m happy about,” Nath said.
The Suva businessman is yet to decide whether he will continue racing next year.
“I will have to modify my car and see how it goes this year but for next year I will have to decide later,” he said.
More than 700 spectators turned up at the Nanuku Aerodome which delighted Fiji Car Club president Raizal Haniff.
“Very good response, we are happy with this outcome with newcomers participating.
“We still have three more races this year,” Haniff said.
A total of 47 partipants took part of which 10 were newcomers and four women.
Haniff also confirmed they are hoping to host one race in the Western division.
“Talks are still underway but we are confident that we will have a race in the western division.”
