Ventures Dominate
The Ventures men and women’s hockey teams were $2000 richer after winning the Geotech Drilling Eastgate Memorial Hockey tournament at the National Hockey Centre, Suva yesterday.
In the women’s final, Ventures beat Marist 3-1 in penalty shootout to pocket $1000 while in the men’s Ventures pipped Stingers 3-2 in a tough encounter to also walk away with $1000. The runners-up settled for $500 each.
Tournament organising committee member Chad Eastgate was impressed with the performance of all participating teams.
“This tournament turned out to be better than what we had expected for this year,” he said.
“From next year we hope to see more overseas teams come over to participate. The level of hockey this year is tremendous and we are now looking forward to next year.
