Chinese Woman In Court

A woman from China who was allegedly involved in a theft earlier this month will reappear at the Nadi Magistrates Court today.

The accused allegedly stole more than $150,000 along with two other Chinese women who previously appeared in court for the same alleged offence.

Xia Oqiong Wu, 50, charged with one count of theft, appeared yesterday before Magistrate Siromi Turaga who then transferred the case to Magistrate Mohamed Azar. Two others, Huang Xiaoyan, 52 and Wen Rong, 41, are already appearing before Magistrate Azar. A fourth Chinese woman, who was arrested with Xia last Friday in Suva, has yet to appear in court for the same alleged offence.

The four Chinese visitors arrived on September 5 and allegedly stole money from a woman whom they offered to pray for.

Huang and Wen were apprehended in Lautoka and appeared in court before Magistrate Azar on September 15.

Huang and Wen’s case were adjourned for today and Xia is to appear in court with them.
