Nadi Ready For Westcose Games

The Nadi School for Special Education will be a force to be reckoned with in today’s McDonald’s Westcose Games at Prince Charles Park, Nadi. About 141 students from the school will participate in sporting events organised by the Western Council of Special Educators.
Nadi Special School head teacher, Shiro Mani Felix, said the students were gearing up to retain the major titles this year but they are also there to promote the holistic development in children with special care.
“Last year, Nadi did not do well. However, in 2014 we scooped the major trophies and so we are eager to win back the major trophies this year,” Felix said.
He said in the major games students would be playing volleyball, touch rugby, soccer, netball, athletics, and cricket while in the other events include painting along with art and craft.
Felix thanked the sponsors and organisers for laying the platform for the students every year where they could get together and have fun.
“This is the decider for the national games which will be held in Suva.
“All 23 schools become divisional winners and are able to participate in the Special Olympics in October.”
The two-day event will see seven special schools coming from Ra and Tavua.
The McDonald’s sponsored Westcose Games will be officially opened by the Olympic gold medal winning men’s rugby sevens team.
