The constant changes in the Vodafone Premier League fixtures for Suva is going to have an effect on their preparations for the Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) which starts next week.

Suva were initially scheduled to play Labasa at Ratu Cakobau Park, tonight  but the game has been moved to Saturday.

Suva coach Gurjit Singh said yesterday the changes in the fixtures have affected his training plan but they have no choice but to adapt to it.

“I have set programmes for my players, we thought we were playing on Thursday so we had light training on Monday and Tuesday and now we are playing on Saturday, so I have to change all that,” Singh said.

“It is quite frustrating having to change everything and we were hoping to have our game on Thursday so at least we have a few days to prepare before the IDC next week.

“The players need proper rest and preparation time, especially, when the IDC is starting in a few days from now.

“Despite the setback the players are doing well in training and we have an extra day to train so we should be doing well against Labasa.

“Labasa is not always an easy team to play against, they will be a tough opponent and we will try to pull a positive result from this weekend’s game to give us a boost for the IDC.”

SINGH, DAMUDAMU JOIN WHITES

While Singh is not happy with the change in fixtures, he is happy with Labasa duo Ravinesh Karan Singh and Leone Damudamu who have been training with the team.

“It is good to have Ravinesh and Leone on the team, they have been training with the boys and are  doing well,” he said.

“They have been part of Suva team before so they are familiar with what we do and they would not have any trouble fitting in with the players.”
