Two Fijian students represented Fiji at the first ever Asia Pacific Youth Dialogue in Chengdu, China.

Archana Reddy, a first year Master of Business Administration (MBA) student of Aims-Institute of Higher Education, Bangalore University in India and Lekima Uluinasaravi, a third year Bachelor in International Relations and Peace Studies student of Ritsomeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan.

The dialogue was held for four days in follow up to the discussions on Young Global Citizens for Sustainable Planet (UNESCO 9th youth forum in Paris 2015) and in preparation for 2017 Asian Civilisations Dialogue Forum.

Ms Reddy said it was an honour and a privilege to be selected to represent Fiji at an international platform.

“The theme of this dialogue was ‘Nexus between Asia Pacific civilisations, social cohesion, respect for diversity and peace building; engaging youth as agents for change and custodians of future regionally and internationally,” Miss Reddy said.

Mr Uluinasaravi of Nasinu said change could only come if youths speak up on issues that affected them

A total of about 184 young women and men aged 18 to 30, from 46 countries in Asia and the Pacific including China participated in the Asia Pacific Youth Dialogue.
