NFP’s Challenge Hearing Date Set

The hearing date of a challenge by the National Federation Party to a suspension by the Supervisor of Elections was set yesterday by the High Court in Suva.
The hearing has been set for November 21.
The party is challenging the supervisor’s finding that NFP was in breach of the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Decree.
NFP is challenging the Supervisor of Election’s decision in February this year that was to suspend the party for 30 days.
The grounds for the suspension was that the auditor that certified the NFP accounts did not have a Certificate of Public Practice as required by section 22 of the Fiji Institute of Accountants Act.
The matter was called before High Court Judge Justice Lyone Seneviratne.
