Exciting Week As New Winner Crowned

Hello fellow car lovers. What an exciting weekend it was. A new winner was crowned.
Ravi Nair – what a run by him clocking a timing of 10.22 seconds. He broke the hearts of many but also won the hearts of many.
For a young guy like Ravi to come out and challenge the veteran drivers himself – speaks volumes. I would like to personally congratulate him for a well-deserved win.
But he has to now work even harder to beat our champion drivers’ record. I feel that Ravi Nair will be able to beat the national record in the next month’s race.
But let’s not count Ravin Nath out. He is a seasonal and experienced racer and I am sure he will come out in full force in the next race.
Even though Ravi Nair has won one race, he still has to prove himself by winning multiple events to be called a champion.
Timing device issues
Apart from this, there are a few issues with the timing device on the day.
During the morning session, I had advised the timing device would play up because it was too hot and the sensors malfunctioned because of the heat.
That is the reason we did not record two cars timing on the day. One was Roy Singh and the other was Amal Singh as the timing for those runs were very unusual compared to other timings.
Let me remind members and racers that errors of such nature do occur because it is electronics. Fiji Car Club cannot be blamed for this as we try our level best to cool down the sensors at every given time.
But am pretty sure these two will come into 11 seconds not far from now in the coming races.
Lawrence Ah Sam had a few problems with his car hence he had to retire from this race.
Major winner
But again there are three more races to go this year and I am sure all of them will want to win at least one of the Pacific Energy Shell Lubricants drag race.
As I have mentioned earlier on, we will crown a winner for these series of races who will be known as the Pacific Energy Shell Lubricants series drag race winner.
The person who wins most in this series will be the overall winner for this series. And we will award him/her with a trophy in the December final race.
Not only this, we will look at category winners as well and issue the same.
Surprise package this time around was Indra Kumar in her Volkswagen Polo. This is the second time for her to participate. She won the previous event and she won again.
She drove very well and she has learnt the art of racing very quickly. Unfortunately our defending champion Aarti Ram did not win this time.
But like I said, there is still three more race to go this year and I am sure she will come back firing in action.
Next event
We are looking at October 23 for our next race. We had scheduled October 30 initially for the next race, but due to oversight on the date which is when we will be having Diwali, we have decided to bring the date forward.
But again we will confirm the date next week as we need approval from the landowners – Nanuku Auberge Resort – before we can lock in the date.
